TDF (Tire Derived Fuel)

About the Product

TDF (Tire Derived Fuel)Tire-Derived Fuel (TDF) is a high-energy alternative fuel produced from end-of-life automobile tires that can no longer be reused or recycled through conventional means.

Instead of ending up in landfills, these tires are shredded, processed, and repurposed into a clean-burning, cost-efficient energy source widely used in industrial combustion systems.

TDF is recognized for its exceptionally high calorific value, stable combustion characteristics, and low moisture content, making it an ideal substitute or supplement to traditional fossil fuels such as coal and oil.

Through advanced processing, metal components are removed, and the remaining rubber material is optimized for consistent, environmentally responsible energy production.

Technical Specifications

  • Calorific value: 28,000 – 33,000 kJ/kg
  • Moisture content: ≤ 2%
  • Ash content: ≤ 8%
  • Sulphur content: ≤ 2%
  • Form: Shredded rubber chips or granules (typically 25–100 mm in size)
  • Bulk density: approx. 500–700 kg/m³

Advantages of Using TDF

  • Extremely high energy output compared to traditional fossil fuels
  • Cost-efficient fuel alternative for large-scale industrial operations
  • Supports circular economy goals by reusing waste tires that would otherwise end up in landfills
  • Stable combustion with predictable performance and heat release
  • Reduced CO₂ emissions and particulate output when co-fired with other fuels
  • Proven performance in cement kilns, pulp and paper mills, and thermal power plants

Environmental Impact and Sustainability

Using Tire-Derived Fuel helps industries lower their carbon footprint while solving a significant environmental challenge — the disposal of waste tires.

Each ton of TDF used can replace approximately 1.25 tons of coal, helping to conserve natural resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Additionally, controlled combustion in modern kilns ensures that all emissions meet or exceed European environmental standards.
